Pour Over Kawah: Dance with Delicate Flavors

Are you the type who appreciates the finer things in life? The Pour Over method is your calling. Picture yourself in a coffee ballet, gracefully pouring hot water over finely ground Kawah coffee, coaxing out delicate flavors and subtle nuances. It’s like sipping on a cup of elegance and sophistication.

Step 1: Prepare Your Tools Before you embark on your pour-over journey, gather your tools. You’ll need a pour-over dripper (such as a Hario V60 or Kalita Wave), a kettle for precise water pouring, a scale to measure coffee and water, a paper filter, and of course, Kawah coffee.

Step 2: Heat the Water Fill your kettle with fresh, cold water and heat it to just below boiling point, around 200°F (93°C). This temperature ensures optimal extraction while preserving the delicate flavors of your coffee.

Step 3: Grind Your Coffee For pour-over brewing, a medium-fine grind is ideal. Grind your Kawah coffee WHOLE BEANS Archives – Kawah Coffee (kawah-rwanda.com)  just before brewing to ensure maximum freshness and aroma. The consistency should be similar to table salt.

Step 4: Rinse the Filter Place the paper filter in the pour-over dripper and rinse it with hot water. This not only preheats the dripper but also removes any paper residue, ensuring a clean and pure taste.

Step 5: Add Coffee and Bloom Add the freshly ground Kawah coffee to the rinsed filter, gently shaking it to create an even bed of grounds. Start the brewing process by pouring a small amount of hot water, just enough to saturate the coffee grounds evenly. This step, known as the bloom, allows the coffee to release trapped gases and prepares it for optimal extraction.

Step 6: Time to Pour Begin the pour-over ritual by pouring the hot water in a slow, circular motion, starting from the center and spiraling outward. Maintain a steady and controlled pour, allowing the water to flow through the coffee bed evenly. Take your time and enjoy the meditative experience.

Step 7: Find Your Perfect Ratio A general guideline for pour-over brewing is to use a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:15 or 1:16. Experiment with different ratios to find your preferred strength and flavor profile. Remember, brewing coffee is an art, and you are the artist.

Step 8: Savor the Symphony As the last drop of water falls gracefully into the vessel below, admire the rich aroma and intricate flavors that your pour-over creation has achieved. Each sip will showcase the delicate notes and nuanced complexity that make this brewing method truly captivating.
