KAWAH RWANDA is among the Great Taste winners of 2021
KAWAH MEDIUM AND DARK ROAST COFFEE BEANS, Kawah Coffee Ltd, have been awarded a 1-star by Great Taste, the largest and most trusted food and drink awards on the planet. Out of 5,383 products worldwide to receive a Great Taste 1-, 2- or 3-star accolade on Tuesday 21 September, Kawah coffees will now be able to display the unmistakable black and gold logo, a stamp of excellence that is recognised by retailers and consumers alike.
“Light bodied, this coffee has a good body and a pleasing mouthfeel. Clean through the palate, and well balanced, there is an appealing fruitiness”.
“A lightly perfumed coffee with juicy acidity, a touch of creaminess and a gentle mouthfeel. A touch of bitterness on the finish was felt to be in balance with other aspects. We struggled to find distinct flavor notes, but found this a pleasant, enjoyable cupful.”
Kawah Coffee Ltd is a Singaporean registered entity created by a Rwandan citizen who moved to Singapore in 2019 and then to London in 2022, as a way to tell the story of her country and the women that inspired the brand.
The coffee beans are ethically sourced only from her family coffee farm located in the west of Rwanda, East Africa, and has been ran through three generations. The family’s coffee farm, Kinunu Agroprocessing, has been producing one of the best and high-quality coffees in Rwanda for the past 20 years and is a full crop to cup experience. Farming, processing, roasting and packaging. The farm is operated by 90% of women and supports sustainability and Fairtrade practices.
The coffee beans are roasted every month and packaged to ensure freshness. The coffee is 100% Specialty grade Bourbon Arabica.
Michaelle Kubwimana, Founder of Kawah Rwanda Pte Ltd, explains: “[Winning these two awards for our products after just a year from starting my business is a dream come true. I decided to enter the competition as a way to understand how my product are appreciated and also because this will help open more doors to new customers and tell our story to a wider audience. As we are quite new on the market, it will definitely be an added value to my business in terms of credibility.]”
