4 things that make Kawah coffee unique in the UK

4 things that make Kawah coffee unique in the UK

1.   We are the only coffee roaster that controls the entire supply chain

As of 2022, there’s an absolute tonne of coffee roasters online. In fact, there are now over 600 in the UK (are you serious?!). Yes really – that’s 600 places to sift through before you even get to wrap your lips around your favourite coffee mug and sip delicious, freshly brewed coffee at home!

Roasting plays a huge part on the taste of you cup but that’s not all. Great coffee is defined from the time the coffee plant is seeded to the way the coffee cherries are processed and stored before being roasted and packaged.
As of today, here in the UK, there is not one coffee roaster that controls the whole supply chain from the crops to the cup, none…apart from us.
Because we are not buying coffee beans from traders or distributors, we not only ensure that quality of all processes are on point but we are also able to pay more to our farmers than the average.

2.
We only serve you single origin

You see, there is a difference between coffee, good coffee and great coffee. And the difference is noticeable in your cup if you are looking for more than a caffeine fix.
Kawah beans are grown on rich soils and perfect coffee harvesting climate on the shore of Lake Kivu in our coffee plantations and processed in our own washing station in Rwanda.
Only the best of our single origin beans are harvested by hand, washed, sun dried and directly air flown to us here in London, no long storage is required and you will always be served beans that were picked the same year and roasted the previous month. This ensures the high quality of the green beans which are certified “Specialty grade”, a term for the highest grade of coffee available worldwide.

3.   90% of our farmers are women

Our secret? Maybe the fact that 90% of our farmers are women? (Don’t we all know who runs the world?). You have read well, we have 385 women who plant, grow, cherry pick, wash, dry, sort the beans and roast the coffee we serve you here and I will let you imagine the impact they have in their community too.

4.   We roast every month to deliver fresh coffee

It doesn’t end here, the green coffee beans are expertly roasted monthly onsite to make sure we deliver the freshest coffee possible. For example when you purchase our 250g bags of coffee, you can choose your roast type and your grind size. Did I mention the roasting is done by a Rwandan lady here (yours truly) who was taught all about roasting by one of Singapore coffee champion.

When you drink a cup of freshly roasted Kawah, you will see the bubbles on your latte, sense all the different flavors and aromas and feel the quality in each cup and mouthful because there is no shortcut to great coffee.
